NM2208 – First entry

Hello all! This is the second NM module that I’m taking, and I’m really excited. Let me introduce myself. My name is Jasper, currently a 2nd year SoC student, majoring in CNM. This journal is created basically to allow you guys to give me some feedbacks on my designs, as well as ideas for sharing too. So let’s learn and experience together through this module!

 Attended the very first lecture on 18th of January. Besides the introduction of the module by Julian, our lecturer, I realized this module concentrates more on how well our designs can communicate with the audience, and the messages that the designs are to convey, rather than how well we can draw and design. Before the lecture ended, we were told to draw something about “Myself”.. Something that can describe myself and my interests through drawings. The audience would be the tutors. I was pretty lost at first, as I wasn’t sure what to draw. After thinking for sometime, I started to draw sports that I like to do, at the same time, the sports each convey a letter, which makes up my name, “Jasper”. Next I draw a pencil and a rubber, and a big bed, to let the tutors know that I like to draw and well.. sleep!

 After I’ve done drawing, I showed it to the tutors. I was quite delighted when they could figure out my name out pretty fast (considering that I’m not really good at drawing), and that I’m a sporty guy, who likes to draw and sleep. It feels great that I managed to convey the right message to them. Definitely a great start. I realized I need to keep my creativity flowing.. and be opened to more ideas. Better start preparing for the first coming assignment.
